HYPNOTHERAPY: a psychotherapeutic approach which employs hypnosis in combination with counseling in order to facilitate healing and promote well-being.

REQUIREMENTS

Student:

Completed Application form
$25.00 Application Fee (one time)
$50.00 dues. (yearly)
Must be enrolled in a hypnotherapy course or have taken previous training in Hypnotherapy.
Must submit name and contact information of ONE reference from a professional in the field (on Application form).

Resident Hypnotherapist:

Completed Application form.
$25.00 Application Fee (one time)
$80.00 dues. (yearly)
Must have successfully completed a basic hypnotherapy course with a minimum of 200 hours onsite and/or distance). Total hours include class time, studying, watching videos and practice. (*)
Must have completed a minimum of 60 hours of counseling training. The counseling portion of hypnotherapy or any related training would be included in the counseling requirement.(*)
Must submit the names and contact information of two references from professionals in the field (on Application form).
Must have read and agree to abide by the IACH Code of Ethics and Rules of Conduct .

The Examining Board will review all materials submitted and either accept or reject the Application. The applicant must appeal any decisions by the Standards committee concerning their application within 10 business days by e-mail.
(*) Documents required:
Certificate/diploma of satisfactory completion OR Course completion verification form signed by the administrator of the educational institution where the applicant completed his/her course(s).

Counseling Hypnotherapist Requirements

$35.00 application review fee (applies only to the graduates of schools that are not approved by IACH),
$25.00 application fee (one time), $80.00 dues (yearly)
Completed Application form
Must have successfully completed an advanced hypnotherapy course from an IACH approved school certified to the Counseling Hypnotherapist level (*).

Must have achieved IACH Resident level Certification
or
Must have successfully completed a basic hypnotherapy course with a minimum of 200 hours (onsite and/or distance). Total hours include class time, studying, watching videos and practice (*).

Must have successfully completed an advanced hypnotherapy course with a minimum of 200 hours. Total hours include class time, studying, watching videos and practice. (*).
and
Must have successfully completed a minimum of 120 hours of counseling training. The counseling portion of hypnotherapy or any related training would be included in the counseling requirement. (*).

Must have completed a minimum of 600 hours working with clients using hypnotherapy and counseling. Please note: Applicants who have successfully met all of the requirements for Counseling Hypnotherapist except this section will receive a Certificate as a Counseling Hypnotherapist (Cand.).(**)
Must submit the names and contact information of two references from professionals in the field (on Application form).
Must have read and agree to abide by the IACH Code of Ethics and Rules of Conduct .

(**) A general list of 600 hypnotherapeutic sessions has to be provided, including approximate dates, problem area and number of sessions per client.

If the Applicant does not meet all of the requirements of the Counseling Hypnotherapist or Counseling Hypnotherapist (Cand.) status he/she may be accepted to IACH at the Resident Hypnotherapist level.

Hypnotherapy Teacher Requirements

Must meet all of the requirements for the Counseling Hypnotherapist Level
Must have completed a minimum of 200 hours teaching hypnotherapy. (*)

(*) Documents required:
1. Verification of student teaching (e.g. an outline of the course(s) taught, video/DVD recording of one 45-min. class presentation)
2. Official written statement from the educational institution where teaching was taking place OR the Verification of teaching experience form signed by the administrator of the above mentioned educational institution [form provided below]

Evaluation criteria for students acceptable to the IACH

Hypnotherapy Teacher Candidate Requirements

The IACH offers a Hypnotherapy Teacher apprenticeship program to those current and prospective members who meet the Counseling Hypnotherapist requirements and wish to pursue Hypnotherapy Teacher status but lack the necessary experience teaching hypnotherapy. In order to initiate the apprenticeship program, the candidate has to secure mentorship from an instructor who has taught hypnotherapy for at least 4 years and is associated with an educational institution that has been approved or is deemed acceptable to the IACH. The instructor is required to inform IACH in writing of his/her intension to become a mentor to the applicant.

In order to be granted the Hypnotherapy Teacher status the candidate must complete 200 hours teaching hypnotherapy under the direct or indirect supervision of his/her mentor who is IACH qualified. [(*) pt. 1-4]

Those Hypnotherapy Teacher candidates who have completed a minimum of 200 hours teaching courses other than hypnotherapy may apply for a Hypnotherapy Teacher status under the following circumstances:

Must provide documents that attest to the 200 hours teaching experience [(*) pt. 1 and 2]
Must have completed a minimum of 100 hours teaching hypnotherapy under the direct or indirect supervisor of his/her mentor who is IACH qualified. [(*) pt. 1-4]
Must have demonstrated an outstanding ability to teach hypnotherapy (**)

4. Evaluation criteria for students acceptable to IACH

(**) Documents required:
1. video/DVD recording of one 45 min. class presentation
2. Students' evaluations (in writing or by e-mail)

Honorary Membership Requirements

Hypnotherapists and others, who are recognized internationally for their outstanding achievement as leaders in the field of hypnotherapy and/or related field, may be granted an honorary membership status. No verification of the applicant's credentials is required by IACH at this membership level.
